Wooden Signs, Paddles, and Flags
Selected Works
This is one of my smaller flags that a made for a customer. She requested a small shelf to be made for her nephew so that he could display the bullet casings of the rounds he shot while hunting. I suggested an American flag with shelves and she loved the idea. Click on to the "Shop" tab and see more details.
This is the first flag that I built and it's currently hanging in my woodshop and I absolutely love how it turned out. I hand carved the stars, which took a very long time but worth it. This is also a medium sized flag and more details are in the "Shop" tab

I built this Retirement paddle to appreciate a great instructor who taught a variety of Criminal Justice classes at the University of Texas at Arlington. She was also a adviser for the Criminal Justice Honor Society that I was apart of during my studies at UTA.
I built this 3' diameter military unit logo for a friend, who was an Army mechanic and worked on helicopter engines. He heard of what kinds of things I was able to do and asked if I could build him a custom sign. This piece now hangs perfectly on his living room wall next to other accomplishments that he earned. The propeller and wings were hand carved and, yes, those are 9mm brass casings inserted into the propeller for additional appeal.
I created this sign when I joined the "Society of Criminal Justice Students" (SCJS) at UTA. After I became a member, I realized there was no way for other students to know who or what kind of organization we were, plus, the school didn't have a clear to way to display the society's name during events. I took it upon myself to build a sign that let everyone know what kind of society we were. This sign was 32" wide and 18" tall. The society's colors where blue and white.
Other Completed Projects
This project was for a customer of mine that wanted a coffee station that would fit perfectly in this spot between their kitchen and dinning table. They gave me exact dimensions of the area and an example design of how they wanted it to look. In addition, they wanted the piece to be mobile, so I added wheels on the bottom. The color I used was a dark walnut to match their dinning table and it looks great in their home.
I built this table for my mother as a gift and she used it in the front area of her home to place her Nativity scene for the holiday. This table is 32" H x 42" L and 16" W. I used a high gloss white for the base and an Dark Walnut stain for the top. I love how this turned out and I'm already building another one for another purpose.
I built this simple Rail Road Crossing sign for my nephew for his birthday. The theme for this special day was trains and making this piece was fun and I'm happy on how it turned out. The actual measurements of this sign was about 5' tall and about 2' wide
Ok this turned out to be another fun project for my parents. They like to feed the wild birds in their backyard and they definitely have there fare share of birds and squirrels that come by and eat. I saw something like this online and wanted to create my own version. I mainly used whatever scrap wood I had in my shop but the coolest part of this project were the bullet casings that resemble beer mugs. As the animals come to eat, it looks as if they are sitting at the bar.
another view of the "Nutty Bar" full of seed ready for some customers.
For this project, My customer, Karen, did not like the way the brick looked and she asked me to come up with a solution, so I created a simple sleeve that fit over the existing brick and she is very happy the way it turned out. The sleeve was made out of simple materials and put together with pocket holes and then "weathered" and stained to match her wooden floors. This was an easy solution, a fun project and a great addition to her home.
My sister, Lorraine Hoffman, wanted something new and some additional shelves in her bathroom. These are 1" x 38" wide and they fit perfectly between the wall the mirror.
This is a 7' tall headboard built out of cedar picket fence boards, and the headboard is slightly wider than a queen size mattress. I used a classic grey stain and then followed up with a light brush of a high gloss white. I added two Edison style lights for both sides of the bed.
These are oak shelves that I created for a return customer, named Morgan, and she loves the way these turned out. I'm sure her cat will love them too, especially the high shelf.
This piece of furniture is: 7' W x 36" H x 24" Deep. It has two doors that slide across a metal frame. It was stained with a Red Mahogany color to match the existing furniture in the home.
This particular repair was actually pretty simple. When I met the homeowners, they told me their grandson jumped up and attempted to sit on the ledge of the island, however, the base gave way and collapsed. I used a simple process of lifting the whole island up with a hydraulic jack. I re-secured and re-enforced the base with a brand new outer baseboard. The last step of this project was to re-stain the new base to match.
